I was hacked by a user from my token site. What do I do?

For a few weeks we’ve talked in our blog about how important is for models to be careful in protecting their data and personal information from users who could access them violating their webcam or network security,  to intimidate or blackmail them.

However, far beyond those advices, some network may have been left unprotected. This is the case of a model that tells us how she was a victim of a hacker:

“I work on a webcam page where I have my WhatsApp number in the tokens profile, the only way my users can see it is by buying through it, however this hasn’t happened yet

Yesterday I started receiving WhatsApp calls from unknown numbers but I did not answer. Later that day a person from one of those numbers wrote to me saying that he hacked my profile on the page through my bio section. This hacker told me that he accessed my data and even told me my full name.

It doesnt scare me If he has my name, it scares me that he can do anything with the page I use to broadcast my shows, which is the one I usually work with. I dont know how he could hacked me and start giving my number to others. Can this happen? What can I do? The model asks us.

On a situation like this we must analyze the probabilities: Camgirl pages are very careful about their information, so if the page was hacked then the camgirl wouldnt be the only victim. We must imagine that certain actions could have occurred like the model was hacked through an e-mail that she uses or could have being victim of a suspicious link that she clicked at some point. In cases like this we recommend:

  1. Keep calm, evaluate what information the user could have and do not give in to blackmail or intimidation.
  2. Find the source of the problem: you should ask yourself if at any time you opened a suspicious link, as well as ads in which you enter your email, because through it a hacker could have access to your account. You should also ask if someone you know wants to intimidate you and get your phone number.
  3. Change your email.
  4. Change webcam page passwords and also your social networks and other pages to which you are affiliated.
  5. Evaluate to have a unique number for your work and another one for your daily life, so that no one in your environment has access to it.

If your hacker has not yet shown any signs of possessing more than your name, then it is possible that he only knows that about yourself and you can limit his actions as we mentioned earlier. If on the other hand this person sends you personal information such as your email or webcam pages passwords, you must inform the page about it, like this:

  1. Send an e-mail informing what happened to you, you must specify the user’s name and/or nickname and attach the proof of it as: page screenshots where the user communicated with you, WhatsApp screenshots, audios, messages and photos. Any proof you have is valuable. Once you have sent the email, they should take control over the situation and elaborate the necessary technical responses to stop the user’s attack.

The most important thing in this situation is to keep calm, think quickly, act intelligently and principally, do not give in to cybercrime blackmail or manipulation. You can control what happens, as well as prevent it from happening again. Always remember that you are strong and capable.
