Basic Tips for All Toys

  • If the toy has batteries, be sure to remove them before cleaning.
  • Do not immerse electrical components in water.
  • Make sure the attachment is completely dry before storing it to prevent bacteria from growing on it.
  • If the toy has a vibrator, remember to remove it before boiling the toy, even if it’s waterproof, because the piece is not designed for high temperatures.
  • Most toys can be cleaned only with neutral soap and warm water, however if you wash it with some antibacterial soap, let it act for two minutes to kill the bacteria.
  • Be sure to remove all soap with plenty of water.

Non-porous materials: These do not absorb body fluids, so they don’t collect bacteria easily.

  • Silicone toys: should be washed with soap and water. They should be sunk in boiling water for five minutes to remove any bacteria.
  • Stainless steel made: wash with soap and water, with a special toy cleaner, or leave it soaking with a mixture of water and bleach for 10 minutes.
  • Hard plastic: do not boil, wash with soap and water.
  • Glass: wash with soap and water or boiling water. It is important to remember that these can’t be exposed to severe temperature changes because the glass could crack.

Porous materials: These have small holes where bacteria could grow, so it requires extra washing care.

  • Nylon: Used for straps and harnesses. Hand wash and clean, do not use any dry process, so the recommendation is let it dry by itself.
  • Leather: can be cleaned with a cloth and soapy water, or applying special leather cleaner. This material is hard to completely clean. Do not soak.

Mixing made toys of silicone, elastomer, soft plastic, jelly, soft leather and vinyl: Must be cleaned with mild soap and water, or some toy cleaner.

This type of material is the most porous of all so it can’t be sterilized entirely, and cleaning products can be absorbed by them, so they should be rinsed with plenty of water and let them dry completely. This type of toys can be (slightly) cornstarch powder sprayed after they are well dried to prevent the particles from adhering to it.

Storage:

All toys should be stored in a cool, dry and clean place, as this will prevent the growth of bacteria in them.

Silicone toys should not come into contact with other toys of the same type, as prolonged contact between them could cause them to melt and stretch.

Keep your toys in a special case to keep them safe and clean.

With this guide, there will be no doubt about how to manipulate and clean your “mates” in the room. This will also allow yout toys to last longer, and your body will be grateful for the care you give to it.
